Ferrari aims to make progress with its upcoming updates as the team strives to bridge the gap between qualifying and race performance. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc are particularly interested in observing how the updates will impact their competitiveness during both qualifying sessions and races. Currently, the Italian team shows a reasonable level of competitiveness on Saturdays but tends to lag behind during Sunday races. Addressing the same, Carlos Sainz gives a crucial reality check on one of their major weakness.

This weekend at the Spanish GP, Ferrari plans to introduce a series of updates, and Sainz remains optimistic about the potential improvements. “It should address some of our weaknesses,Sainz stated, as quoted by Nu.nl. He further added, “We expect to achieve that with this step. It’s just the first step among many.”

Sainz believes that the main weakness of Ferrari lies in the significant gap between their qualifying performance and their performance during races. The Italian racing team and the Madrileño driver faced difficulties in Monaco as well, forcing Sainz to express major concerns saying “You’re actually starting too far forward and we’re going backwards in the race,” said Sainz. He remarked, “This leads to doubts and criticism, although it’s challenging to accurately evaluate our strategic department’s performance. Nevertheless, there is room for improvement, that’s for sure,” acknowledging the need for progress despite their single race victory.
