Toto Wolff has already called his team along with the others as F2 when compared to Red Bull. It was almost as if Wolff was blaming Red Bull for being too quick. With the F1 fans getting used to hearing the Dutch National Anthem at every podium celebration, Toto Wolff decided to brutally troll Sergio Perez as he glorifies Mercedes’ rich history.
Max Verstappen has been the dominant force in F1 this year. The Dutchman is running away with the championship and no one can stop. The only possible driver who can stop him is the one with similar machinery. In this case, Sergio Perez. However, the Mexican hasn’t been able to put up a challenge to Verstappen. Ever since the Miami GP, Perez and his title challenge have gone for a dive.

Amid all this, Toto Wolff decided to recall Mercedes’ rich history as he trolled Red Bull and Sergio Perez. Toto Wolff suggests that during Mercedes’ dominance period, both the drivers at the Brackley Stable were competitive and at least used to challenge one another, which people found exciting. The same could not be said about Red Bull where Verstappen is already 118 points ahead of Perez halfway into the season.
According to @Motorsportcomtr’s Tweet, Toto Wolff said “In the Mercedes domination, at least we had two cars fighting against each other and that was exciting to people.” What Toto is suggesting is true. Verstappen’s gap to Leclerc in the championship last year was 146 points, which is way more than the gap that Hamilton had to any runner up during his dominant days.

By the looks of it, Max Verstappen will only go on to break his 146-point record from last season if his dominance continues. Max Verstappen’s dominance has led the F1 Owners to ask Red Bull to sign a competitive driver alongside the Dutchman.

Having the same driver winning every race is not what the fans want. Imagine having to watch every race where a driver wins by a 20-30 second lead. While it is great for the Max Verstappen fans, the other fans won’t be delighted. As a result, Liberty Media has asked Red Bull to sign a competitive driver alongside Max Verstappen.
This is because even if Red Bull is the only dominant team, the fans can still see the two teammates at Red Bull fight it out for a race win or the championship. Formu1a.uno suggests that Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc are the targets for the same.
