Although Lewis Hamilton started 2021 on the right foot, he saw his title challenge take a hit in the past six races. However, the Briton marked a strong comeback by clinching pole position for the first ever sprint race in F1.

While fans are used to hearing his race engineer Peter Bonnington saying, “Get in there, Lewis” on the radio, that message didn’t feature in the past few races. However, that changed after Hamilton’s immense effort in front of his home crowd.

Despite Max Verstappen dominating free practice earlier today, Hamilton kept his composure when it mattered the most. Although he squandered his final flying lap in Q3, he did enough to keep Verstappen to P2 for tomorrow’s sprint race.

While today’s session doesn’t confirm the grid for Sunday’s race, it’s a step in the right direction for Hamilton. Since the Spanish Grand Prix in May, the Briton is yet to win another race in 2021. In addition, his teammate Valtteri Bottas starts the sprint race from P3, which gives Mercedes an excellent chance to challenge Red Bull this weekend.

After an intense qualifying session, Hamilton’s race engineer Peter Bonnington finally said those famous words in sheer joy. “Get in there, Lewis!” screamed the 56-year-old to the defending world champion.
“What a lap, man. It’s the first one counted.”

However, the occasion was so special for Hamilton that he relayed those same words back on the radio. “Get in there!” replied Hamilton. “Cracking job, guys!”
