Taylor Swift’s influence in the world of the NFL is no secret, but her indirect involvement in F1 remains a matter of fan chats. Whether it is the rumors of her attending the Miami Grand Prix or a double date with boyfriend Travis Kelce, his teammate Patrick Mahomes, and his wife, fans love to see Tortured Poets Department star in the glamorous world of Formula 1. This time, it is George Russell’s ‘Swiftie’ fandom that has fans riled up.
After George Russell made his affection for Taylor Swift known, it was the fans who came knocking, all with the same idea: Fernando Alonso is going to be angry. It all started when news of a mysterious figure at Swift’s Madrid concert emerged. While most fans debated who it was, it didn’t take long for F1 fans to remember George Russell’s iconic T-pose, which the mysterious figure also used.
When Mercedes posted about the incident on Instagram, Russell hopped into the comments, with a subtle nod to his iconic pose from 2023. While most fans laughed it off, others were quick to remember another driver on the grid, one with a rumored history with Swift: Fernando Alonso. This was in obvious reference to Fernando Alonso and Taylor Swift’s rumored dating history from 2023.

Another one joked that George Russell would need to watch out on the track, as Alonso would come after him. Explained in a headline, the fan said, “BREAKING NEWS: GEORGE RUSSELL NEEDS BODYGUARDS ON THE 2024 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX TO PREVENT FERNANDO ALONSO CRASHING INTO HIM.”
What they agreed on was that Fernando Alonso would not take this gesture kindly, saying, “I don’t think Alonso would like this,” as well as, “Alonso disliked.” Apart from little hints and subtle references from the Aston Martin camp, there was no official confirmation of the pair being together.
A fan or two even denied Taylor Swift’s presence on F1, writing, “Please no Taylor Swift here please,” and even calling out the admin of the mercedesamgf1 page, writing, “admin have you perhaps missed your calling as a comedian?” To everyone’s surprise, the latter comment had around 2.9k likes. Crazy right?
