George Russell's Olympic fail—proof that even F1 stars can't master everything?

The F1 summer break started on a not-so-nice note for George Russell. At the last race before the holidays, in Belgium, the Mercedes racer soared to victory after managing his tires like a pro. However, the FIA found his car to weigh less than the permissible limit and thus, they disqualified him. But now, it seems like Russell is shaking off the disappointing Spa race by immersing in the summer spirit with his girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt.

As he is currently on a trip to Mallorca, George Russell has already filled his social media page with pictures of him on a yacht with his ladylove. In one of the shots, he hugged Carmen against the light of the sunset, and in another, he tried out his surfing skills. Being an F1 racer who loves the adrenaline rush, he decides to take things up a notch by diving into the blue waters of the Mediterranean. Sharing his diving clip on his Instagram story, he mentioned how he wanted to represent Great Britain at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Diving is a part of the Paris Olympic Games, and Team Great Britain excels at it. They have gathered a total of 4 medals in this category–one silver and 3 bronze. Leading the diving squad of GB was none other than the famous YouTuber and 5-time Olympic diver Tom Daley. He took part in the Men’s Synchronized 10m platform event with Noah Williams and bagged second place. Showing off his diving skills for his IG story, George Russell hilariously hinted at his attempt at making the diving team from his country.

The F1 racer even joked that his diving was not impressive enough for him to get a ticket to the Olympics. He wrote, “Sad to announce I didn’t make the Olympics 2024 #teamgb.” He also added a couple of laughing emojis to show that it was all in good humor. While George Russell’s dream of representing his country might not become a reality, his teammate Lewis Hamilton has also expressed similar wishes of his own.

Lewis Hamilton talked about his Olympic musings

Being a part of Formula 1 is one of the biggest aspirations for any racer, including Lewis Hamilton. The Briton is arguably one of the best drivers of his generation, so he should get a chance at the Olympics. But what did he say about his wish to earn a medal at the historic Games? When CNN asked this to the teammate of George Russell, he said, “Not for motorsport. But I don’t know. Maybe I’ll do an Olympic sport someday.

It will not be surprising to see Hamilton ace another sport because he has done it already. When he shot a video with 10-time California State 3-Gun Champion Taran Butler, the American was amazed with his skills. Butler had said, “The most naturally gifted [shooter] that’s ever walked the earth, no other video and nobody else can touch this in mankind history, it will never happen again, that’s never shot before, is Lewis Hamilton.”
