Since his F1 debut in 2019, George Russell has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in an upcoming generation of drivers. After winning the Formula Three championship in 2017, he immediately won the Formula Two championship in 2018.

This earned him a seat at Williams at the age of 21. Despite spending a majority of his F1 career at the back of the grid, he showed promise by bringing excellent results in qualifying. Dubbed ‘Mr. Saturday’, he is enjoying one of his most successful F1 seasons this year.

Forging a career in F1 is never easy, and Russell is no exception. However, his father Steve Russell played a huge part in helping him chase his dream of taking part in motor sport.

Steve Russell, George’s father owned a peas and beans business

Russell was born on February 15, 1998 in a British town named King’s Lynn to Steve and Alison Russell. He is the youngest of their three children. Along with sister Cara, he has an older brother named Benjy, who he claims is his inspiration behind the #63 on his Williams F1 car.

Steve Russell ran a small, yet successful peas and beans business when his son, George was born. However, he sold that business in order to aid Russell’s ambitions to pursue a career in motor sport. In fact, the 23-year-old came from a family which didn’t have as much financial strength as a few other drivers on the current grid.

In addition, his mother, Alison also worked as a hairdresser. Since he sold his business many years ago, Steve Russell’s net worth is unknown. However, his son George is now worth over $1million.
