It’s hard to imagine Max Verstappen without wings. However, with rumor mills churning fresh stories daily, Verstappen’s links with Mercedes are gathering pace. The Dutchman has been a part of the Red Bull camp for a while now, and imagining him as a part of the Silver Arrows would be a bitter pill to swallow for many fans.

Despite that, Mercedes driver George Russell might have given the people an inkling of the future during the Monaco Grand Prix press conference. Russell commented on his future after Formula 1, while adding he would love to team up with some of his fellow drivers. The Englishman stated, “Yeah, I think definitely after my Formula 1 career, I would love to race in Le Mans and maybe even do it with some guys who are in F1 at the moment. I think it would be quite cool.”

Max Verstappen opens up on his future amidst Mercedes links

While the Red Bull racer continues to be linked to a move to Mercedes, Verstappen might just call the curtain to his Formula 1 career before switching pitstops! The Dutchman was quite vocal about his appreciation for Le Mans, adding that he does see himself having a future if paired with the right partners.

Verstappen stated, “I mean, I remember when I was like 11, 12 years old, my dad was racing at Le Mans in LMP2 and then LMP1 the year after. It is something pretty incredible. I mean, even at the time, you know, you’re a young kid, but just the whole atmosphere is fantastic. And the team element of it, because it’s not only you, right? You have to work together with your teammates to try and find the right compromise with the set-up. So, yeah, I’ve been following it a lot here and there.”

It will be interesting to see if fans will see the Dutchman follow in his father’s footsteps and challenge himself in the endurance-based race. However, with Max Verstappen focused on his F1 career, fans would be eager to see if the racer sticks with Red Bull or hops over to Mercedes. Do you think Verstappen should join the Silver Arrows?
