The eight-time world champion constructors made the W13 following the latest rules and regulations. But the 2022 challenger isn’t capable yet of winning races like its predecessor. Even the Silver Arrows ace Lewis Hamilton is struggling with the car’s significant porpoising issue.
But the young Brit has been driving troublesome cars since he joined F1. So, he’s having a less hard time than Hamilton. Further, he bagged his first podium for Mercedes with the struggling W13 in Melbourne. And it pushed the Silver Arrow driver to sit at P2 in the driver’s standing with 37 points.
George shared his thoughts on being in P2 at the drivers’ championship, “Somebody told me that and I didn’t believe them. It’s pretty crazy to think but this is a championship based on results and not necessarily based on pace.”
George Russell impressed teammate Lewis Hamilton
It is not a secret to anyone that Russell grew up looking up to the seven-time world champion Hamilton. Now, he is driving alongside his idol. But, surprisingly, the young Brit is outperforming his idol.
Russell has finished ahead of Lewis in two out of the three races this season. Recently, George also bagged a third-place finish at the Australian Grand Prix. So, the phenomenal performance from Russell even impressed the Mercedes veteran.
