George Russell is now an official Mercedes F1 driver. The 2021 season may just have ended, but teams are already working to get ready for the upcoming season. The Brit did some tests at the Yas Marina in the Mercedes w10; the 2019 title-winning car.

Russell did point out one issue with the car that made things difficult. Nevertheless, he is impressed with the car and has stated that he has the Christmas break to recover.

George Russell opens up about the issue that is bothering him in the Mercedes

After doing some tests at the Yas Marnia, Russell is quite happy with the car’s performance, but it does have one issue that is causing problems for the Brit.

He said, “I’m a bit battered and bruised today to be honest, it’s pretty damn tight in that car, but next year will be much better. I’ll have a bit more room to breathe so looking forward to that. But suck it up, get on with it, and I’ve got all of Christmas to recover!”

What more did Russell say about the W10?

Undoubtedly, the Brackley-based squad have made title-dominating cars over the years in Formula One. Now, Russell, the newest addition to their team, was mightily impressed after taking out the W10 out for some tests at the Yas Marina.

He said, “It’s a good car, it’s definitely a very good car. Even though it’s modified it gives you confidence and it’s a real joy to drive, you can put it on the limit, you’ve got confidence in it and it’s something I’ve struggled with a little bit in the past season. That’s why it won the championship back in 2019 and as I say, a great experience.”
