The new young gun at Mercedes, George Russell, holds tremendous promise and has proved his potential with his win, as well as finishing ahead of the seven-time world champion, in a rather difficult car for the season of 2022, which also stands to be his debut year with the home team.

George Russell is a dedicated, focused, and driven individual, who has been rising to the occasion with impeccable performance, with zero excuses. The young lad has had a long way to go and is extremely optimistic for the year 2023.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio Norfolk, Russell shed light on the work that Mercedes is putting in, and the journey they’ve had so far. He believes that the team will emerge as dominant in the upcoming season.
Russell shared, “When you join a team like Mercedes you’re expecting victories. I felt ready to fight for race wins and championships this year but you’ve just got to manage your expectations.”
“You’ve got to change those sights slightly and it’s been really intriguing for me this year, seeing how the team deal with this situation.”
“I’m here for the long haul and even though I wanted victories and [to be] fighting for that championship in 2022, as a team these struggles are going to set us up for the coming years,” Russell concluded.
Despite being hopeful, George Russell is extremely humble and credits his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, for being the ‘greatest of all time.’

George Russell has been climbing up the ladder with his consistent growth. However, the 24-year-old shows his gratitude for having the opportunity to be driving alongside the seven-time world champion.
The Briton admires Hamilton for all that he brings to the table, and the innumerable examples that he has set- in order to become one of the greatest F1 drivers in history.

Russell expressed his admiration, saying, “It’s been a good journey for me, being team-mates with him. He’s the greatest of all time so I’m in a very privileged position to go up directly alongside him but also learn from him.”
“I’m really excited for 2023. I’m still going to be trying to improve my driving, what I do on and off track, and hopefully we’ve got the car beneath us to fight for the championship,” he concluded.
