The world of motorsport is a cutthroat one. You either fight your way to the top or fade away along the way. One such driver who has risen to the top is George Russell. The Briton is finally in the Mercedes seat next to Lewis Hamilton this season.

The 24-year-old has been a Mercedes junior driver since the start of his professional career. He won the 2018 F2 title and spent the last 3 seasons at Williams waiting for the scenario where he finds himself in today.
The Wolff Hamilton Russell Dynamic
The 2022 season is seeing a new pairing at Mercedes with Hamilton and Russell. The line-up on paper looks exceptionally strong, but it could have some underlying problems. Russell has been touted by many to be a future world champion even though his junior years.

Mercedes, team boss Toto Wolff describes the dynamic between the teammates as “lions getting to know each other.”. He added that ” Two completely contrasting generations that accept the role of the other – the master and the successor.”
Shutting down the question about the relationship between the 2 Russel said, “The fact is, Lewis and I have a good relationship,”

He also went on to add, “if I’m going to be World Champion, I’ve got to beat everyone – Lewis included.” on his dreams to be World Champion one day.

Mercedes in 2022
The 2022 season kicked off in Bahrain last weekend and Ferrari painted the town red. Charles Leclerc took pole and won the race with Carlos Sainz in P2, making it a one-two. The Silver Arrows, on the other hand, had a far from optimal running last weekend. But with a bit of fortune, they managed to secure a podium with Lewis Hamilton.

George Russell was not far behind Lewis as he finished fourth. The Brackley-based team has struggled this season and is no longer the quickest team on the grid. The team has openly refuted claims of them sandbagging, which suggests that the new era might lead to a new team dominating the scene.
