Williams’ Alex Albon recently had to back out of the Italian Grand Prix for health reasons, when Nyck de Vries stepped in to fill his shoes. Alex Albon had to undergo surgery for his appendicitis. Unfortunately, there were a few complications during the procedure. Albon experienced respiratory failure. This required them to rush him into intensive care.

To everyone’s surprise, Albon bounced back sooner than expected as he is ready to take on the Singapore GP.

Amid all this, Mercedes’ George Russell, who is a good friend of Albon, has shown a great deal of encouragement. Albon’s dedication, considering all the difficulties he and his family have had to face, impresses him.

Russell told BBC, “It’s definitely audacious to come back for the toughest race of the season having only just recovered, but it just goes to show the sort of grit and determination he has.”

“I was in contact with his family on Saturday night, because it was looking very scary at one point. But it’s pretty impressive to see how he recovered so quickly.”

“The human body is a scary thing. It just goes to show one minute everything is fine and the next minute everything can change almost totally out of your control. It will be interesting to see how he gets on this weekend.”

The admiration and encouragement go both ways when it comes to these two.

Alexander Albon thinks People Are Downplaying George Russell

Alexander and Russell are undoubtedly holding each other up through times high and dry! The fellow brit replaced George Russell at Williams after he moved to Mercedes. Alex has only good things to say about his mate.

Talking about performance, Albon told Mirror, “I think he’s doing an amazing job and I think in some respects people are downplaying how good of a season he is having, He’s doing a really impressive job and I know what it’s like to be up there in a top team–it’s not easy.”

Further adding to how driven and talented Russell is, Albon said, “He really takes things to the next level in terms of self belief, in a good way, and also in going into the details and maximizing every opportunity he has. It’s great to see him up there and I think he’s more than proven himself already.”

Seeing these two have each other’s back, in a stone-cold world called F1, is extremely heartwarming. With Mercedes looking for its first win this season, Vettel driving at Singapore GP for the last time, and Albon getting behind the wheel for the first time after his surgery; Singapore Grand Prix this weekend is going to carry a lot of emotions.
