It’s difficult to overshine the winner of the 103 Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton, in the same machinery. But George Russell was able to do that. The young Briton put up a brilliant show in the season 2022 winning 7 podiums and victory at Brazilian Circuit. His efforts throughout the season have made Toto Wolff put him in a league of legends.

While talking to the racer at the Mercedes unit before the Abu Dhabi race, Russell opened up about his first race in the Mercedes car. This season the Young Briton showed his true potential as he finished P4 ahead of the team’s superstar Lewis Hamilton. And the stupendous performance has got him a reaction from Mercedes Boss.
That being said, When the racer was speaking with Russell at the time of Abu Dhabi weekend, Toto Wolff walked in and that happened to be the first chance for Wolff to congratulate George Russell for his victory on the Interlagos Circuit as the Mercedes supremo wasn’t present at the Brazilian GP. When Wolff congratulated him, Russell said, “Try and do it again this weekend…” To this Wolff gave a wise reply and said, “Legends grow slowly.”
While Wolff left, Russell continued with the interview and evaluated his performance at the Sau Paulo track. He said, “I’ve got to be honest, all the thoughts that went flowing through my mind straight after the race (in Brazil) on that in-lap, Bahrain didn’t cross that once. And I don’t look back on Bahrain with any real thoughts or disappointment or frustration at all.”
If these statements of Toto Wolff are seeming hinting at George Russell being the next big thing in F1, then the agreement of 4x times champion puts a final stamp on it.
