After a disappointing qualifying yesterday, Mercedes have somehow found some blistering pace for the main race. That is, for both their drivers. George Russell, who failed to make it into Q3 and started the race in P12, has finally found his first podium finish. While all this was happening, the Briton had a hilarious radio moment with his race engineer. It has certainly left fans on the internet in splits.

Russell gained a whopping 5 places in the very first lap. He went wide to avoid contact with three cars that were running abreast on the track. Eventually, he rejoined after gaining five places. The Stewards decided against going further into the investigation as they deemed his move necessary to avoid any incident.

The Spanish GP has brought the best finish for the Mercedes boys. Lewis Hamilton, after the Australian GP, has once again taken P2 behind Max Verstappen. Russell too has scored his first podium finish of the year with an impressive P3. Given the audacious overtakes he made during the race, it made for a mega drive. However, it’s his radio shenanigans that are going viral on the internet.

As the race progressed to Lap 28, Russell told his race engineer, Marcus Dudley, that it had started to rain around Turn 5. Later, as the race progressed toward Lap 32, he asked Marcus if he was the only one who felt it was raining. He also told him that it could have simply been the sweat in his helmet. Dudley replied, “it’s just you George”.

Take a look at how fans reacted to the hilarious back and forth between George and Marcus.
