Pierre Gasly was incredibly excited for his weekend. Celebrating his maiden win exactly a year ago, Gasly looked to replicate the result this weekend. However, the sprint qualified rained on the Frenchman’s aspirations. Further, Pierre was asked about his lost Red Bull sea; Gasly let out his piling frustrations.

Gasly crashed out of the session in the first lap after damaging his front wing. As he starts the race from the pit lane, Gasly was already disappointed with his Saturday. So when asked about Perez’s extension at Red Bull, Gasly had some strong opinions to share in an interview with Canal+.

Yes for sure, To sign again and to be out of Q1, to finish one lap behind his teammate, and to be elected best driver of the GP, yes, there is frustration. Especially when I finish 4th with a much inferior car to his.” Gasly had his eyes on the second seat, sure he would get it after improving his racecraft.

Although Gasly has had a successful career and seems happy at AlphaTauri, he has had a burning desire to get back into the Red Bull car. Once again, it’s been taken away from him; his disappointment is evident.

Unfortunate sprint end for Pierre Gasly

Gasly actually had a very strong start to sprint qualifying. He managed to get ahead of Hamilton, who was in second. What could have been an ideal grid placement, is now far from reality.

After touching the rear of Ricciardo’s McLaren, Pierre completed destroyed his front wing, crashing into the barriers. The sight of the podium looks distant for the driver as he hopes for points. “The target tomorrow is of course to try and get into the points. I will watch the replay tonight and analyze the possible overtaking spots, as it seemed that it was difficult out there today to make up many positions.”

Gasly isn’t completed disheartened as he knows that anything can change in an instant in F1. “We know that anything is possible though, and we’ll try our best to come back tomorrow.”

Pierre’s growth has been an undeniable upward curve. It looks like he’ll have to continue doing what he’s done so far- show Red Bull what they’re missing out on. Without a doubt, Gasly will look to make the most out of the Temple of Speed on Sunday.
