2013 was the year when Rockstar games released the GTA 5, arguably the most played game in the last decade. Nonetheless, ever since the it’s release, people wondered about what the next Grand Theft Auto would look like. Well, the wait is over as the trailer for GTA 6 is out and Max Verstappen and Co. jump onto the hype train as Red Bull’s 6 year old wish comes true. But what is the wish all about?
Anyone who knows anything about video games has been waiting religiously for GTA 6. Amongst them were the Red Bull Team themselves. And it looks like they had been waiting for over 6 years for the game to come out. Why 6 years you might ask? Well, Red Bull published in article back in 2017 that talked about all the cities that their team would like the upcoming Grand Theft Auto i.e. GTA 6 to be based off.

The list had many iconic cities like Paris, London, Rome, Tokyo, Sao Paulo and more. Speculations began long before GTA announced the game. Many expected that GTA 6 might feature a new city that’s never been featured in the franchise where another thought was of Rockstar following what they did earlier by returning with GTA 4 to Liberty City i.e. New York City. Red Bull seemed to merge the two thoughts as they presented options from both.
Looks like Red Bull’s 6 year old wish came true with GTA 6 being based on one of the cities in the list. Yes, you guessed it, Vice City (Miami) was in Red Bull’s list but as a Bonus. With the trailer showcasing what the game will be about and which city it’ll be based in, Red Bull took the chance to hop on the GTA 6 bandwagon and upload a reel on Instagram. In the reel, a Red Bull mechanic can be seen in a GTA setup with the task to reach the paddock. And in the GTA style, steals a car, albeit a cop car in this case, and completes the task successfully.

A small detail that many might’ve missed is Red Bull titling the reel Grand Prix Auto Miami, where Miami is the Vice City. But why did Red Bull only include Vice City in their list and not any of the other cities that other GTA games are based on.
Why did Red Bull put Vice City on the GTA 6 city list?
GTA IV was based in the same city as GTA 3 that is Liberty City. So by that logic, GTA 6 must be based on the same city as GTA 5, right? But that’s not the case? Did Red Bull have insider information back in 2017? Well, no, that’s not the case as Red Bull explained how going back to Miami and experiencing it in better graphics would make so much sense.

While explaining the reasoning for putting it on the list, redbull.com read, “Forget going anywhere new: just like GTA IV returned to Liberty City, it’s high time we returned to Rockstar’s version of Miami. Vice City’s cool climate, bright visuals and killer soundtrack gave us a gorgeous city to explore, and we reckon it could be re-explored in brand new high definition. We’d love to head back and explore the city again, and there’s surely more to it than what was covered in GTA: VC.”
