It just gets keeping worse and worse for Lewis Hamilton in 2022. The 7 time world champion failed to qualify in the top 10 for the second time this season at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix qualifying yesterday. He got the opportunity to make ground at the Sprint race today, but was almost invisible throughout the session.

Hamilton could not make any significant opportunities throughout the Sprint race that would help his course to move up the grid. He started the session P13 and finished P14.

Mercedes and Hamilton fans on Twitter also were not pleased with the Sprint race results. They demanded the team make changes to the car so that they are more competitive in the coming races.

 

Lewis Hamilton analyzes the Sprint Race performance at Imola

The Mercedes driver had another tough session as he finished P14 in the Sprint Race at Imola. Hamilton got a really bad start, which sent him tumbling down the order. He got past Lance Stroll on the track as his only overtake of the race.

“Ultimately, we haven’t got it right this year but everyone is working as hard as they can to correct it. This is the situation that we are faced with, but everyone has their heads down and everyone is working as hard as they can,” said Hamilton.

“We’re obviously not fighting for this championship, but we’re fighting to understand the car and progress through the year,” said the 7-time world champion.

It is rare to see Lewis so anonymous during a race and not make any impact. He could not drag the performance out of his W13 when he needed the most.
