‘King of Spain’ is how episode 2 of the pilot season of Drive to Survive unfolded. While Fernando Alonso will always be the ruler of the streets of Valencia, a new Spaniard on the block had arrived. Carlos Sainz, who had always idolized Alonso, is now challenging the Asturian driver. While you let that sink in, our pole man, Sergio Perez, for the Miami GP, found a way to poke fun at his Hispanic buddies as Fernando’s Spanish rival from Albert Park lines third.

The driving royalty from Spain has seen a few clashes with each other, with only four races in. While in Bahrain, the senior overtook the junior in the easiest way possible. The lap 57 restart in Albert Park was the most chaotic of it all and it saw Sainz get a penalty he described as the worst one in the history of the sport.

He said, “You’re friends now, f*****s? [jokingly to Alonso and Sainz] Hahaha” and probably this is the comic relief we needed after the chaotic end to the qualifying yesterday.

During FP2, Alonso got annoyed by Esteban Ocon trying to get faster in free practice. Speaking to his engineer, Alonso said, “Alpine is competing with us in free practice?”

The engineer replied, “Yes, be careful. You were on a fast lap.” The Spaniard, with his claws and elbows out, then said, “Yes, understood. Free practice is his moment,” said the former Alpine man.
