At this point in time last year, Charles Leclerc of Ferrari was leading the championship by 34 points. The Scarlet team which has forever been trying to stake a claim at glory was much closer to it as they had won 2 out of the first 3 races. However, the championship ended with Leclerc being almost 150 points behind Max Verstappen. Ferrari’s flaws were exposed to the world. A subsequent overhaul saw Frederic Vasseur take charge of the team. However, with the team’s superbly underwhelming performance, he has been left with only taking digs at their main rival from last year.
Red Bull breached the budget cap in 2021 for which they were handed a seven million dollar penalty and reduced wind tunnel time for the same. However, many team principals who have been at the losing end of the 2022 regulations wanted severe treatment for Red Bull. And even Fred’s predecessor Mattia Binotto wanted the same fate for the Milton Keynes outfit. However, the Red Bull TP, Christian Horner has now come out to take the modest path saying, “Everyone has an opinion and I think everyone is free to have an opinion.” Also, not denying the fact that RB did a stellar job, he remains apprehensive about what is yet to come.
As quoted by Motorsport-Nextgen, he said “So on a snapshot of three races, I think it’s still extremely premature to judge the impact on this season, there’s a huge amount of races left to go. There are a lot of things that can change,” adds Horner. “We are hearing about big developments for Ferrari and Mercedes when we return to Europe.”

He also stated, “So we certainly don’t take anything for granted, we just focus on ourselves, doing the best we can within the limits we have. We’re doing the best we can with what we have and we know it’s a tough penalty despite what our competitors think. the best possible way.”

With Christian Horner clapping back at the Italian team’s boss, it does make one wonder what exactly did the Frenchman Frederic Vasseur say regarding the punitive measure handed to Ferrari.

Frederic Vasseur who is now at the helm of Maranello’s charge probably always has to look over his shoulders. And their prime rivals from last year are beating them left right and center. The penalty that was handed to them doesn’t seem to have caused much damage from their show-up till race three. Perhaps that is the worrying factor for the French TP.
Sky Sports F1 quoted the Frenchman as saying, “I’m still convinced that the penalty was very light.” He also added, “I don’t want to say they [Red Bull] didn’t do a good job because, honestly, they did a very good job on the car. I am not trying to find an excuse at all, but if you ask me if the penalty is too light, I say yes. I’m not sure the effect [of the penalty] is mega. And if you consider [also] that you have an advantage at the beginning of the season because you spend more the year before.”
