Haas driver Romain Grosjean may lose his seat at the end of 2020, after failing to impress in the last couple of years. The American team has been rumored to be on the lookout for new candidates to fill their seats in 2021. Grosjean is aware of the fact that he may no longer be an F1 driver. However, he doesn’t believe his motorsports career is done yet.
Speaking at the driver’s press conference ahead of the Russian Grand Prix, Grosjean said, “Obviously, there aren’t many seats left in Formula 1, and there are many candidates. So I do understand the point of view from Haas.
“It totally makes sense they’re not in a rush. But I don’t think I’m in a rush either. There are options elsewhere as well, which can be interesting.”

While Grosjean wouldn’t mind racing in other series, he knows the charm that F1 holds.
He said, “Obviously, Formula 1 is Formula 1. Coming from Mugello, driving those cars in Mugello, you’re like yeah, you know what, it’s absolutely unique what I’m driving.
“Formula 1 is very appealing in that aspect. lt will take some time.
“We’re still early in the year, still have got many races to go, so on my side, not too much in a rush.”
Grosjean’s spot at Haas is under threat by the likes of Sergio Perez as well as the up-and-coming talents, namely, Robert Schwartzman, Callum Ilott, and Mick Schumacher. Even Nico Hulkenberg may be under consideration.
Romain has only managed to get 8 points in the last 30 races. Moreover, his questionable defending at Silverstone only invited more criticism. It certainly seems like he will face the ax.
Romain Grosjean lists alternative options that interest him
Grosjean said his preference would be to “most likely to stay in Europe.”
He isn’t interested in moving to America as he said, “Obviously IndyCar is a beautiful championship. But I’m not really tempted by the oval. They even scare me, so I don’t really want to do ovals.
“But I think, Hypercar at the Le Mans 24 Hours and the World Endurance Championship can be nice. Formula E is definitely an option. There are some good drivers and teams there.”
Chances that he gets an F1 seat for 2021 are pretty slim. Nevertheless, Grosjean would like to give his best and perhaps alter people’s opinion or, more importantly, Haas’ decision.
