Kovalainen explains how Lewis Hamilton dominated Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg
Alonso and Rosberg were teammates to Lewis in very different times of his career. Hamilton made his debut in F1 when Alonso was his teammate in McLaren. But when he joined Rosberg in Mercedes, he was already a world champion. But both his world champion teammates found it hard to compete against the Mercedes driver.
“Since Alonso won two championships with Renault, he has always made the wrong choices and sometimes I wonder if it’s because he was surprised by Hamilton’s speed.”
“If that was the central problem, then there were the problems with Ron Dennis and the whole team, and apart from Renault, he had no other place to go. It was a regression for him. He then tried to catch up, but he never really recovered,” said Heikki.
“I think Rosberg used every tool at his disposal to beat Lewis, and it almost killed him. He said it himself, he didn’t want another season like this,” said the former F1 driver.
