As if you’d expect anything else from them, Haas F1 simply made a car announcement for the following day and served the first car of the 2022 season. Now, being a first, there’s a lot of expectations and hype, for obvious reasons.

However, Haas’ 2022 challenger didn’t exactly fulfill the expectations or give the other F1 teams’ graphics department a headache. This is because their livery is exactly like their driver’s lineup – they’ve kept it unchanged for the coming year.

Naturally, this led to many fans mocking and criticizing the American team for their lack of change. And joining in on that bandwagon was the team’s former driver, Kevin Magnussen.

“..probably the most complex project in the last 20 years” – Haas F1 Technical Director

After the release of their ‘new’ car, Simone Resta, Haas’ technical director, described how incredible a change the 2022 car was.

“In terms of creating a new car, it’s probably the most complex project in the last 20 years, said Resta. “I’ve been really participating [in] a lot of launches in different positions, and I must confess, I can’t remember such a big change in the last 20 or so years.”

Resta explained the huge expectations and the ‘cloudy’ nature of what other teams come up with, which adds more to the uncertainty of the winter testing.

The Haas director also highlighted the fact that their team is still in the early stages of its development and transition. “I expect that we’ll see the best deployment from this team in one year after developing the car and in general just more time working with each other,” he said.

These comments by the Haas director should encourage the fans not only about the coming season but the future in general.

However, looking at the way their new car looks compared to the previous season, fans would hope their team’s performances aren’t identical at least.
