Swiss racing driver Romain Grosjean started a new adventure at the US-based NTT IndyCar series last year after a horrifying end to his Formula 1 career. He survived a catastrophic crash at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix. Leaving F1 after 10 seasons, Grosjean moved to IndyCar in 2021, driving for Dale Coyne Racing. It was a strong first outing for Grosjean as he finished 15th in drivers’ standings with 272 points in 2021.
For the 2022 season, Grosjean has switched to Andretti Autosport and will drive alongside American driver Colton Herta. The 2022 17-race calendar is set to begin tomorrow with the inaugural race in St. Petersburg and the last race on the 11th of September in Laguna Seca. The Swiss driver recently took part in his first practice session as an Andretti driver and he pipped teammate Herta to finish on the top.
Moreover, fans from across the world voted Grosjean as Number 1 driver going into this season. Though his stint as an F1 star came to a disappointing end, Grosjean enjoys a popular fanbase in Motorsports. He often mingles with his fans through social media, constantly giving updates on his personal and professional life, making him one of the most loved characters in the sport.

In a recent interview, he laid down his thoughts on this delightful achievement. “It felt amazing. After only one year in IndyCar, to be voted the most popular driver has been quite incredible,” said Grosjean as reported by Motorsport.com.
“I’ve got a story, I come from 10 years in F1, the fire and coming back to racing in IndyCar, discovering a championship where I think it was a reverse. I use the ‘Phoenix’ as a nickname not because of the fire, it’s related to a rebirth of myself through IndyCar, having fun and enjoying myself,” he added.
