Sebastian Vettel isn’t having a great season so far in 2022. He was out of the first two races because of testing positive for COVID-19. And how can we forget his disappointing DNF in Melbourne? In Australia, the four-time world champion struggled with his Aston Martin throughout the weekend. Many fans and experts are speculating if the German driver will look for a new team if Aston Martin’s poor performance continues.

Ferrari parted ways with the four-time world champion in 2020. Subsequently, Seb joined Aston Martin in 2021, hoping to redeem his failed Ferrari stint. The British constructors looked like an excellent choice as there were vast investments, and many promises for the German driver. But the move hasn’t been like what Vettel would have imagined.
Aston Martin finished seventh last season, and the current season has been even worse. The Silverstone-based team is sitting at the very bottom of the 2022 constructors’ standings with 0 points. In light of this, the former F1 driver Timo Glock believes Seb would look for a new future besides Aston Martin if the British constructor cannot provide him with a competitive car.

Glock reported, “I can imagine that Vettel will lose his patience at some point because he himself knows how long it takes to get out of such a low. Therefore, the question arises whether he still wants to do that to himself. Now you have to wait for the next races and see how he can motivate himself and what he then decides for his future.”
Aston Martin boss on the ‘not normal’ crashes of Sebastian Vettel
To sum up Seb’s weekend in Australia, the 34-year-old crashed the AMR22 during the FP3, which affected his qualifying session. Seb could only secure P17 from a single lap run during the Melbourne qualifying. On Sunday, Vettel again crashed his car into the wall and lost his front wing during race day. As a result, Seb had to retire from the Australian GP.

Many fans speculated that not driving the F1 challenger for two race weekends affected Seb’s form. But the Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack doesn’t blame Seb’s driving for the crashes in Australia. Instead, he believes the AMR22 has issues that led to those cases. Even Lance Stroll was facing issues driving the AMR22 in Melbourne.
Krack said, “This is really something that we need to really look at, what car we provide him, what feedback he gets from the car. Because you will agree with me that him being off so much as he has been this weekend is not normal.”
