Lewis Hamilton failed to lift his record-breaking eighth World Championship in the 2021 season, whereas Max Verstappen lifted his maiden Championship title. However, the nail-biting 2021 season finale gave rise to more controversies in the sport. Recently, the former F1 driver shared his thoughts on the British driver.

In the title-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton was leading the race for most of the laps, but Verstappen eventually took the lead in the latter part and claimed the victory. However, fans believed Hamilton lost only because of race Director Michael Masi’s late-race safety car decision.

Recently, FIA even investigated the incident and removed Masi from the position and plans to implement a new structure to administer a race.

Apart from Masi’s decision, another rumor that got the attention of all F1 fans around the globe was Lewis Hamilton not attending the FIA prize gala and also disappearing from social media. Fans were theorizing whether the seven-time world champion quit after the 2021 loss.

But all the rumors died after Lewis uploaded a pic with a caption that read, “I’ve been gone. Now I’m back!” Soon Mercedes F1 responded to that post and tweeted about Hamilton’s return for the 2022 season.

What does Romain Grosjean have to say about Hamilton?

The former F1 driver Romain Grosjean has talked about Hamilton and what to expect from the Brit in the upcoming season. Grosjean said on his YouTube channel, “I’m back for what, my guess is back for formula one. He’s back to get that eighth world championship that he really wants. He’s back to compete to fight the ways he’s been doing last year.

“Honestly, even though he’s not the world champion in 2021, I feel like it was his best year in Formula One. He’s been super strong, he’s been doing no mistake, he’s been really engaged, pushing the limits and driving the hell out of that Mercedes car that wasn’t the fastest one.”

The former Haas driver compared the Briton to great F1 legends. He further applauded him and Mercedes for their accomplishments in motorsport. Grosjean said, “So what I hear from Lewis, I think he still loves motorsport. He wants and he has the chance, the opportunity to be the only driver to be eight-time world champion. And you know when Michael Schumacher was seven-time World Champion, no one thought that was going to happen to anyone else. Then comes Lewis and Mercedes, they have done the job together.”

The Swiss-French driver showed absolute faith in Hamilton; even counts him as one of the best drivers in the sport’s history. Therefore, Grosjean further stated on his channel, “I think, through the winter, testing we’ll be able to see you a new way. But he’s got nothing to prove, Lewis is one of the biggest racers and drivers in the world’s history. You know you’ve got Nikki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton, those guys are absolutely incredible.

“So can’t wait to see how it goes, can’t wait to see how he fights back but I’m pretty confident pretty sure 99 percent, I won’t go 100, that is going to be back and he’s gonna be back for winning.
