The 2022 Formula 1 season is about to begin, but it seems like most of us haven’t really moved on from the previous season. Many fans are still red about the way Lewis Hamilton lost to Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi.

And despite an ongoing investigation by FIA, some of these fans aren’t cooling it down, still coming up with theories and serious, insinuating possibilities of what ‘may’ have happened.

One such fan recently posted a ‘new emerging footage’ of the last few laps from Abu Dhabi. According to the fan, the race director ‘executed instructions’ of a Red Bull’s Jonathan Wheatley, as the video suggests.

However, former F1 champion and current pundit, Damon Hill was quick to burst this ‘hot air balloon’ of suggestions. “Its not new or emerging news,” Hill replied.

“It does however make for uncomfortable listening, as it did at the time. No-one (except Red Bull) is happy about this. The question is, what does one do about it? Grateful for any ingenious ideas,” he continued.

As a reply, the fan asked Hill, “What does anyone do when someone is the victim of injustice? Often what’s done is done, but justice is achieved by admission of guilt from those involved or they are shown to be guilty. And an apology to Lewis from F1 and FIA would help.”

Hill admits “an apology” is due to Lewis Hamilton after Abu Dhabi

Speaking about the execution of the justice after what happened in Abu Dhabi, Damon Hill offered what should be done. As for what needs to be done, Hill’s suggestion wouldn’t necessarily please Hamilton fans.

Hill wrote, “I think an apology is due to Hamilton and to all F1 fans. But it won’t change the result of the 2021 F1 Championship. That is the whole point of my argument. Sacking Masi will not change the result.”

“It may even be better for Hamilton of he stays! He owes him!”

So much has been already said, alleged, ‘revealed’, and explained about the last few laps in Abu Dhabi that dragging it any further is pointless. What the F1 community needs to do is put what happened in the past behind, and move on into to the present.
