Lando Norris is riding the wave of success in F1. After 5 years and 15 podium finishes without a win, the McLaren star finally won his first race in Miami. Easily beating Max Verstappen, Lando “NoWins” shed this unwanted nickname. Now that he is past the highly anticipated milestone, the Briton has shifted his entire focus onto winning his home race – the British GP.
“We can win more races this year, I think we can compete against Red Bull,” Norris told Sky Sports after the Miami GP. Though he emphasized that his feet remain on the ground, Andrea Stella-led McLaren’s brilliant developments have contributed to the team’s skyrocketing confidence. With the Miami win, Norris became Britain’s 21st Grand Prix winner. The 24-year-old even declared that McLaren will challenge Red Bull for the championship in 2025.
But before that mammoth challenge, a win at the British GP on July 7th is paramount to him. “I would love to (win at Silverstone),” Norris said on ‘The Fast and the Curious’ podcast. “I really wanted to win in Silverstone. I mean, Miami was a great place and a very cool place to win. So, I am not gonna complain. But one thing along the way that I would really, really love is to win in Silverstone, win it in front of my home fans.”

He also elaborated on how that win would mean the world to him. “That would just be the next level of crazy,” he added. “That’s my next goal. As much as I would love to win in Imola and all these other places, a win in Silverstone is as top as it gets for now.”
Surprisingly, in Norris’ latest video on his Quadrant (his brand) YT channel playing F1 24, the Brit secured the fastest lap around Silverstone in Sim Qualifying and got Pole position. “(This) basically means I’m going to on Pole for the race,” he said with a poker face. The entire world seems to be backing him for that British GP win, even the Silverstone organizers themselves.

“A win based on pure speed and merit,” Silverstone’s online tribute read. “A win that was so well-deserved. A special moment for team and driver, Lando Norris became the 21st British winner of a Formula 1 Grand Prix. And now, with Lando’s home race at Silverstone only five races away, here’s to hoping that, with the upgrades on his MCL38, he can storm to victory on home soil, in front of an atmospheric home crowd.”
Norris has made his entire homeland proud. He sits 4th on the drivers’ standings, with 83 points, level with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. With McLaren’s current upgrade trajectory, more podiums and wins this year are very much on the cards.
