If there’s a Mexican associated with F1 that fans love more than Sergio Perez, it’s probably his dad, Antonio Pérez Garibay. Papa Perez has melted multiple hearts with his adorable celebrations at the Mexican GP. However, he was left speechless after this past Sunday’s fiasco involving his son and his teammate, Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen’s behavior in Sao Paulo will certainly be the talking point for weeks to come. Sergio Perez has done multiple favors for the Dutch Lion and Red Bull in his career. He also helped Max clinch the all-important title last year. However, Verstappen failed to return the favor when the Mexican needed it the most.

Going into the race, Perez led Leclerc by 6 points in the championship. However, an unfortunate turn of events saw Perez overtaken by the Ferrari duo, Fernando Alonso and his teammate. Red Bull ordered Verstappen to let Perez through in the final lap. However, the Dutchman denied the team’s orders publicly, which infuriated fans across the world.

Sergio Perez was visibly distraught after the race. But his father’s reaction was something that shook the fans even more. Antonio, like the rest of the world, couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed.

Fans took to Twitter to blame the Dutch driver for hurting their favorite Mexican duo.

Red Bull fans will be hoping for Christian Horner to solve the incident internally as quickly as he can. However, that didn’t stop fans from expressing their anger and disappointment for the Dutch Lion.

Consequently, fans claimed Verstappen “took it too far” after watching Papa Perez’s reaction.

Additionally, even Mercedes fans were sad at the sight of a distraught Papa Perez. Furthermore, some fans declared “war” against the reigning world champion.

Subsequently, some fans were glad that “arrogant” and “narcissistic” Max Verstappen exposed himself.
