Max Verstappen earned his sixth pole position of the year yesterday at the Red Bull home. The man is creating new history at the pinnacle of motorsport with his extraordinary driving. However, more than his name getting heaped upon by the fans, the crowd buzzed two words more than anything and that was “Track Limit.” Lando Norris seized the opportunity to poke fun at Red Bull drivers, and as a result, garnered praise from the Twitter F1 fans for his brutally frank remarks. What exactly did the Brit say?
The Austrian Grand Prix is one of the most thrilling races of the year, yet unlike any other circuit, the white line here pinches the drivers the most. The white lines on the track map out the boundaries of the circuit and drivers are required to stay inside these lines to avoid gaining an advantage. Yesterday in Austria, a total of 47 laps were deleted during the qualifying sessions. This proved to have impacted Sergio Perez the most.

While setting the time, Red Bull driver Sergio Perez thought he’d easily finish in the P3, but his minor mistake was enough for him to continue his run of Q2 exits. The Mexican driver said, “What a f**king joke with the track limits” after his departure in Q2, while Verstappen was heard discussing how the rule made it challenging for him to establish the lap timings.
After the quail, Norris was discovered criticizing Red Bull drivers for complaining about the track limitations in an interview with Skysportsf1. It was because, in Norris’ opinion, Red Bull has the fastest car, which provides them an advantage over rivals at such courses. He said. “They have the quickest car, why are they complaining?”
Later he added, “You don’t want to be thinking about it every single corner but there are compromises. You have to tell yourself to lift off and you never want to do it ever but at times I feel the Red Bull is too quick to lift off and lose a tenth.” After hearing Lando Norris’s words, two-tiered praised him for speaking the truth.
Twitter’s F1 community praises Lando Norris after the British driver exposes Red Bull’s additional advantages
After suffering for the entire season, Norris would have made his entry to the top three at the Austrian GP if the British driver didn’t end up committing a mistake. As of yesterday the 23-year-old was on a roll with the upgraded MCL60 and qualified for P4. Norris, along with a number of other drivers, was the one taking the heat from the officials because his own time was stripped away six times.
After delivering a fearless comment, the fans hailed Norris as brave enough to speak on this point. Some reactions are given below.
