Reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton admitted to the peculiar nature of the 2020 Championship taking a toll due to the current restrictions. Having to cut down on his off-track activities, Hamilton feels the current season is mentally challenging.
Racing aside, Hamilton often involves himself in non-driving related ventures. The 6-time World Champion is well invested in the fashion industry and recently revealed that he lent his voice to a song.

However, with the current safety protocols in place, the British driver has put his other interests on hold. With the F1 ‘bubbles’ and a packed 2020 calendar, Hamilton’s sacrificed a fair bit of his extracurricular endeavors.
Reflecting on the mentally exhausting 2020 season, Hamilton said:
“I think it’s definitely a challenge. Obviously everyone’s in the same boat. Probably the journey of an F1 driver fighting for a championship, it can often feel like a lonely journey.
“That’s magnified this year, obviously with having to limit people who are in your bubble, and of course moving around.”
The Briton also revealed that he missed traveling and spending time with his family.
“What I used to do in the past was the travelling, was other things that I was finding positive. But getting to be around friends, getting to find the perfect balance this year, it’s much, much harder to implement those other things that help keep a balance.

“I don’t know, it’s hard to put the words together. But everyone’s doing it, I think. It’s a real challenge, and a real test mentally for me personally. I don’t know how it is for you guys, maybe you’re seeing your families and stuff, but I’m not.
Nevertheless, the defending Champion maintained that the ultimate priority was the World Championship fight. Hamilton compared the current season to a ‘marathon’ and asserted that he was focused on the task at hand.
And so far, he’s delivered.
