The start of the new year has been extremely eventful in the world of F1. We’ve had contract extensions, firings, and now the news that could’ve had an instant impact on F1’s future. Andretti Autosport, partnered with Cadillac, has been denied entry into the sport as per FOM’s decision. The American F1 hopeful will have to continue their efforts to break the barrier and become part of the circus in hopes of becoming part of the sport in 2028. However, this denial of acceptance by FOM after FIA’s approval will surely be looked into.

The FIA saw multiple proposals requesting entry into the sport but only approved Andretti’s application back in October last year. The FIA’s approval was the first big step Andretti had taken in the right direction to fulfill their F1 dream in a long time. However, they were still aware they would have to cross the FOM hurdle as well. We all know how that has played out now.

However, the FIA will not sit quietly as after the FOM decision was made, reports suggest the FIA will take necessary action. FIA released a statement indicating they plan to investigate FOM’s decision to not grant Andretti entry.

It read, “The FIA notes the announcement from Formula One Management in relation to the FIA Formula One World Championship teams’ Expressions of Interest process. We are engaging in dialogue to determine the next steps.”
