Ferrari reds are every driver’s dream. Sebastian Vettel had once boldly stated that if one asks the crew at Mercedes, they will say they are Ferrari fans. While this may be true, is the Mercedes champion a big enough Ferrari fan to want to jump ships? As the rumor mill surrounding the $49 million offer to Lewis Hamilton is getting riper, Ferrari’s frantic shopping spree comes to light.

Daily Mail reported that Ferrari is drawing up an almost $50 million contract offer for Hamilton who has now gone 17 months without a win. However, a Sky Sports analyst speaking on the Sky Sports F1 podcast has highlighted how the offer may not be as lucrative for the Brit.

Ted Kravitz said, “Firstly, I think the £40m offer is a bit of a low-ball offer for Lewis Hamilton. It’s probably £5m less than what he’s on at the moment and is something Mercedes are going to offer as part of not only the remainder of his driving career but also a longer-term association with the Mercedes brand, which is valuable to Lewis. Number two, I think Ferrari is offering everybody a job for anything at the moment. Everyone is on Ferrari’s shopping list because Fred Vasseur says he is going to put together a crack team of amazing people around Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc to make them realize this is incredible.”

According to Kravitz, Maranello even tried bringing Adrian Newey aboard, offering him a hefty amount. However, like the machine alchemist didn’t come aboard, perhaps Lewis won’t as well.

He said, “I don’t think he’s likely to go. Maybe if he wins the elusive eighth at Mercedes once they get the car right eventually then potentially he might go and see if he can win another one with Ferrari. But he may be into his 40s by then.”
