The Qatar Grand Prix weekend has kicked off with the two free practice sessions on Friday in the Losail International Circuit. There is a lot happening on this circuit as the drivers are still in process of acquainting themselves with the new track.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc got penalized for exceeding the speed limit prescribed inside the pitlane. When asked about the same, he gave some seemingly funny answers.

On Friday during the FP2, Charles Leclerc breached one of the FIA regulations by driving just over the speed limit inside the pitlane. The red team driver was going at a speed of 81.6 km/h which is just over the prescribed limit of 80 km/h. The Competitors received a fine of 200 euros after the matter was looked into by the FIA.

When he was asked about the same and if there was a problem with the car, “No, just a problem with my finger,” replied the Monegasque. “I looked at the wheel, saw the white line and thought that was the end of the pit lane, but it wasn’t. Then I braked, but it was too late,” he added.

On being asked if Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto will lend him the fine amount, “No, I’ll pay it myself,” replied the red team driver chuckling.

Ferrari would be looking to leave a mark in Qatar

Apart from the high voltage rivalry between the Mercedes and RedBull, the midfield battle between Ferrari and McLaren is the one to look out for this weekend. The Italian team is sitting in the third position with a comfortable lead of 31.5 points over the British team.

Ferrari had a good first practice session in Losail Circuit with both their drivers finishing P6 and P7 ahead of Mclaren‘s P10 and P11. However, The British team came in stronger in the second session with Lando finishing P4 ahead of Sainz in P10 and Leclerc in P13, who finished one-tenths ahead of Daniel Ricciardo.

With three races to go, this fight for “best among the rest” is looking intense. This, in all likelihood, will go down to the wire in Abu Dhabi. Tell us who do you think will finish in the third position in this Constructors’ Championship.
