Ferrari had a great start this season, dominating the season opener in Bahrain with a 1-2 victory and then bagging two more podiums in Saudi Arabia. Undoubtedly, the Italian F1 team is among the favorites, but they are going to improve further. As the team is planning new upgrades to increase the aerodynamic efficiency of their F1-75.

The Maranello base came this season came with a strong 2022 challenger. Further, Ferrari seems to have the best power unit this season. The other cars with the Ferrari engine also look strong. Apart from this, the Italian car has also showcased an impressive aerodynamic performance besides Red Bull.

F1-75 struggled with porpoising, like other F1 cars. But the Reds improved it in the Jeddah race. However, they need to improve it further cause their rivals Red Bull has the least issues with porpoising. There are speculations that the Italian F1 team is working on upgrades to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the car for future races in 2022. However, these upgrades might not come as soon as one might expect.

Ferrari boss hints at significant upgrades only after Melbourne

The Prancing Horses were phenomenal this season since the testing in Barcelona and Bahrain. But they further continued the impressive form in the season opener and Jeddah. Charles Leclerc dominated the Bahrain GP and eventually won the race. Then the Monegasque driver was again close to winning the Jeddah race, but Red Bull’s Max Verstappen overtook him to win the race.

Now, the Maranello base is gearing up for the third race of the season in Melbourne. However, Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto revealed they won’t implement many upgrades for the Australian race. And this is because the Ferrari boss doesn’t want to spend much amid the limited budget cap in the early races this season.

Binotto said, “It’s not just a matter of when we will be ready but a matter of budget caps, making sure we are not spending all we have got in the first races. We are not expecting significant upgrades for the next race in Melbourne, but as soon as we can bring something, we will do it.”
