Can you imagine what would happen if Joe Biden came out to give the winning trophy to the Miami GP and Logan Sargeant had won the race? Well, something along the same lines happened to Charles Leclerc, who won his home race in Monaco, just a few miles from where he lived, and was handed over the winning trophy and medal by the Prince of the Principality of Monaco, Albert Alexandre Louis Pierre Grimaldi, commonly known as Albert II.
Charles Leclerc was denied the opportunity to win the Monaco GP multiple times, once because of a pitstop blunder and another time because of Ferrari’s negligence in not checking the gearbox and driveshaft after a crash. However, the Monegasque decided that he would let anything come his way and would win the Monaco GP this year. And it all started well with the Monegasque getting the pole on Saturday, the most crucial thing for a win.
Despite the Lap 1 crash and 35-minute wait, Leclerc didn’t lose concentration, got a great restart, managed the hard tires for 77 laps, and took the Monaco GP win. Louis Chiron was the last Monegasque driver to win a race in Monaco, and it was 93 years ago. Almost a century after Chiron’s win, Charles Leclerc has managed to do it once again and also become the first Monegasque driver to win a Formula 1 race in Monaco.

After getting emotional about his late father in the final laps and during the interview, Charles Leclerc got to celebrate the win with the Prince of Monaco, Albert II. Prince Albert had tears in his eyes as he hugged Charles Leclerc during the podium ceremony. And once the trophies were given, the prince joined Charles Leclerc and started spraying the champagne himself. It just goes on to show how much Leclerc’s win meant to all the residents of Monaco.

I just wish my father was here to see this moment. It’s just incredible. The weekend has been perfect from the beginning, and he did the perfect lap in qualifying and managed the tires well, and it’s a good win.”
Charles Leclerc’s Monaco GP win wasn’t the most exciting one, but will probably be remembered for what it means to the Monegasque.
