Imagine how Corinna Schumacher must have felt on the 25th of November, 2012. After 19 glorious seasons at the pinnacle of motorsport where he won 2 championships with Benetton in 1994 and 1995, and an astounding 5 consecutive titles with Ferrari from 2000 to 2004, Michael Schumacher finally hung up his racing helmet as 7x champion: a feat not beaten, but only matched, to this day. Schumacher had dedicated almost his entire human life to this sport, but after the 2012 Brazilian GP, he was now going to devote himself to his family. Corinna would’ve been on cloud nine! However, just over a year later, on the 13th of December, 2013, the Red Baron suffered a horrific skiing crash that left in him a comatose state ever since.
We’ve all spared a thought for our champion, but what about Schumacher’s wife? She lost her husband, her closest confidante, and even the remotest of a chance at a normal family life that she so deserved after toiling alongside her husband in the background for years, as Schumacher rewrote the F1 history books.

“Michael is here. Different, but he’s here, and that gives us strength, I find,” is what Corinna will tell you, as she told Netflix for Schumacher’s documentary, while she tries to shrug off the travesty of her plight. But the truth may actually be very disturbing.
The reality, according to the man who gave Schumacher his big break in F1 at the 1991 Belgian GP, is harrowingly morose. Eddie Jordan, ex-F1 team owner, was quoted as revealing, “It’s been nearly 10 years now and Corinna has not been able to go to a party, to lunch or this or that, she’s like a prisoner because everyone would want to talk to her about Michael when she doesn’t need reminding of it every minute.”
Now, at least for Corinna’s sake, is there light at the end of the tunnel for our beloved Weltmeister?

As the days keep passing by, the morbid reality keeps sinking in. Even though the 7x champion has the best medical minds on his case, there’s only so much that can be done. And now, with an inordinate wait, maybe its time to swallow the bitter pill of truth according to a close friend of the German.
A close friend, Roger Benoit, was quoted as telling The Daily Mail, “This sentence says everything about how (Michael) has been doing for over 3,500 days. A case without hope.”
