“Racing is a great mania to which one must sacrifice everything, without reticence, without hesitation,” said Enzo Ferrari. However, in the modern era of F1 where even a tenth of a time lost can lead to serious implications, Ferrari put up a racing ban 14 months ago in order to stop a possible sacrifice. However, as Carlos Sainz Jr. overcame this ban at the Italian GP, his father questioned Frederic Vasseur’s whims and urged a war. What did he say?
Ferrari was arguably the quickest during the first third of the 2022 season. During the 2022 Austrian GP, Carlos Sainz was right on Charles Leclerc’s tail. However, the Spaniard, despite being in the DRS for multiple laps and having the potential to overtake, was asked to maintain the position. Then Ferrari eventually had to double stack because of a VSC, and Sainz who was behind lost multiple positions and time.

Regardless of not allowing their drivers to race 14 months ago, Ferrari advised their drivers that they were free to race at the Monza GP. In the closing stages of the race, Charles Leclerc was right up on Carlos Sainz’s gearbox and made multiple attempts to overtake. Some could’ve even ended up with both of them crashing out. However, Carlos Sainz Sr. has now raised questions against Frederic Vasseur and Co. about how the drivers were allowed to race at Monza but not in Austria.
According to a tweet that quotes Soymotor, Carlos Sainz Sr. said, “It’s odd. Sometimes they decide some things, and sometimes others. Carlos has to ask and understand the strategies, why sometimes they can attack each other, and other times not. I keep the third place. Now that it has happened, I prefer it to be like this, without any type of team order or anything. Deserved.”
Regardless of what happened during the race, it was a great outcome for Ferrari who have now jumped Aston Martin for 3rd position in the constructors standings. Let’s see what Sainz made of the battle with Leclerc and the Red Bull drivers.

Carlos Sainz started on pole. The Spaniard was able to keep Max Verstappen behind but eventually, the tires gave in, locked up and Max Verstappen ran away with the win. Then it was Sergio Perez toward the end of the race, who overtook Charles Leclerc under traction coming out of Turn 1 & 2. From then onwards, it was a fierce fight between the Ferrari teammates as Sainz came out on top.
According to FIA.com, Carlos Sainz during the post-race interviews said, “There was always going to be a bit of a fight, a bit of a battle. In the end, we kept it clean. There were a couple of nice moves here and there, tight battles. But I think today, honestly, I enjoyed battling Max, battling Checo, battling Charles. I think it was a good day for F1. As you said, a good show. And I just did everything I could to stay in front and it worked.”
