In the past three races, Carlos Sainz has seen it all in Formula 1. The Spaniard experienced the lows of not even securing a podium in Japan after his win in Singapore. Before that, he experienced the full support of the Tifosi after his incredible pole-securing lap in Monza. However, the Ferrari man has truly changed everyone’s perspective towards him. However, it was the pole position in Monza that got him the best reaction from his mother. Carlos Sainz’s mother, Mrs. Reyes Vázquez de Castro, revealed how overwhelmed she was after the Italian GP qualifying.
For every driver donning the famous red suit, winning in Monza, the home of Ferrari is a dream come true. The Tifosi are the most passionate set of fans on the entire grid and perhaps in the sport’s history. So to achieve even the slightest of glories in front of them feels like you’ve conquered the world. When Sainz secured the pole in Monza, that is exactly how he must’ve felt. If not, at least his mother did!

Sainz’s official YouTube page released the BTS of the Italian GP. During the video, when asked how it felt to secure pole position in front of the Tifosi, Sainz, with a full mouth, replied, “Ask my mum to see how it went.”
His mother instantly replied, “I nearly cried Carlos, goosebumps! He’s so lucky.” She also revealed she came by the car to celebrate the pole and said, “It was amazing!”
We can all understand the heartwarming reaction of a mother to her son’s achievements. In fact, we can’t wait to know how Mrs. Vázquez de Castro reacted after the win in Singapore, which made her son a championship contender in the eyes of many.
Until we do come across her reaction, let’s revisit the heartwarming reaction Sainz had after sharing the podium with his old friend only for the second time in his career.

CarLando, as we have come to know and love, shared their first podium in Singapore since the 2021 Monaco GP. The podium was special for two reasons. First, it was only the second race win for Sainz in his entire F1 career. Secondly, if not for Sainz’s smart racing, Lando Norris wouldn’t have been able to finish P2.

The Ferrari man almost literally dragged his McLaren teammate to the podium in Singapore. He spoke about sharing the incredible moment with his old friend, Sainz, with a heart full of appreciation.
Sainz said, “It always feels a bit better when you have someone that you get on well with and that you respect, both as a driver and as an athlete. As a person, it always feels better to share those good moments. And don’t get me wrong, I think if he would have had a chance to pass me at any point he would have gone for it, for the win.”
