Among many, Ferrari is also a team going through a massive overhaul in the current season. This has become a common fixture on the grid because of this we are seeing multiple personnel switch teams. Ferrari has been on the wrong side of things as they have lost more key personnel than they’ve hired. This turn of events has raised a lot of questions about Ferrari’s future under new management, specifically Frederic Vasseur.
The French boss of the Italian team came under power during turbulent times. The new boss is expected to steady the ship and sail it toward championship glory. However, so far in the current campaign, there have been no signs of Ferrari mounting a championship challenge. Apart from the strong driver lineup, there is a lack of depth in the backroom staff. Despite that, Vasseur made a bold statement regarding the team’s path to success.
Vasseur said, “Ferrari doesn’t have to wait for new personnel to improve.” However, former team owner Eddie Jordan believes this approach by Vasseur isn’t the correct one. Speaking on the Formula For Success podcast, he cast his doubt on Vasseur’s methods with his experience in the sport.

Jordan said, “I think what Fred seems to not have done, which I would’ve done, me if it was Jordan. I would’ve brought my little group, just like they do in soccer, you bring your coach, you bring your assistant, the guy who sits beside you on the perch, so to speak and he tells you what he thinks. As a team boss, you’re thinking about a multitude of things but you need good high quality assistants to be able to feed you information that you need at the time. I don’t think he’s got that at the moment.”
Vasseur is definitely handicapped in terms of key personnel. However, Scuderia is using all its resources to fill this hole in the team. Regardless of this shortcoming, the boss thinks Ferrari is self-sufficient at the moment as the results will pour in due time.

The Italian boss has a mammoth task to bring Ferrari back to the top given the current level of competition. He will have to achieve a feat that no Ferrari boss has managed since 2008. Despite staffing on a slippery slope, the Frenchman is confident but is demanding patience. He addressed this during a conversation with Motorsport.com.
“No, I said that in Formula 1 many processes take time, and among these there is also the recruitment of new personnel. We will inevitably have to wait two or three years to see the results of these choices, but I have never said that we have to wait for the arrival of these new people to see an improvement, I have a lot of faith in those who work within the team today,” he said. Patience is a virtue no Formula 1 team or fanbase possesses. However, for the sake of long-term success, the Tifosi might just stay patient and let the Frenchman do his work. What’s a few more years, right?
