Carlos Sainz has been an integral part of the rumor mill this season. Apart from whispers that he may be shifting to Audi, everything else has been related to his relationship. Rather, relationships. Early in the year, the rumors were about him and his then-girlfriend, Isa Hernaez, breaking up. They confirmed it. A few weeks later, owing to borrowed sweatshirts and rides in Ferrari beasts, there seemed to be a new woman in his life. The obvious rumor? Rebecca Donaldson is Sainz’s new girlfriend. That’s all but confirmed now, too. Recently, people speculated that he may have a secret child with Isa. That could explain why their families are still close… 

At the end of the day, though, they’re just speculations. Isa Hernaez is no longer a part of Sainz’s romantic life. That’s all Rebecca Donaldson, especially now that Sainz’s family has accepted her into their clan. But one member still seems stuck on Isa. 

Carlos Sainz has moved on but Mama Sainz hasn’t

After they started dating in 2017, Sainz and Hernaez quickly became one of F1’s golden couples. Sooner or later, everyone expected to hear wedding bells ring. Instead, after dating for almost seven years, they announced their split in June 2023. In those seven years, though, both of them got close to each others’ families. Sainz’s sisters are a few of Isa’s closest friends, but one person she’s especially close to is his mother, Reyes Vasquez de Castro.

Sainz’s sister Ana’s Instagram following showed that she’s accepted Rebecca into the family. But if Mama Sainz’s Instagram activity is anything to go by, she’s still one of Isa’s loudest cheerleaders. Isa Hernaez is a fashion expert and journalist. Considering that, she posts fashion updates quite often on social media. Every time she does, Mama Sainz is one of the first people to show her support for her son’s ex-girlfriend. This time was no different.

Apart from designing clothes from time to time, Isa also models for brands. Her latest Instagram update has two pictures from a photoshoot she did (presumably for Louis Vuitton). She captioned it, “Portraits” Mama Sainz couldn’t help but comment (like she usually does). She wrote, “Isa que guapa!!! ❤️,” which translated to, “Isa, how beautiful!!! ❤️”

Sainz and Hernaez may have broken up, but they still have a lot of respect for each other and their families. So much so that Hernaez recently upheld a vow she and Carlos made.

Isa Hernaez’s vow to Carlos Sainz

Family means a lot to both Isa and Carlos. The fact that they haven’t let their breakup get in the way of their relations with each other’s families is proof of that. The thing is, they broke up right before Sainz’s sister Blanca’s wedding. Instead of letting their breakup take center stage, they prioritized their connection to Blanca. At an event Isa attended before the wedding, she said, “[Blanca] is a friend of mine, and she deserves all the prominence this week.” 

The Ferrari driver echoed Isa’s comments and got quite teary-eyed about his sister getting married. He said, “Emotion, isn’t it? For my sister, who deserves it. It is her day, and she is very happy.” Months after they promised each other they’d prioritize family, Isa did just that. A few weeks ago, Isa posted pictures of herself on Instagram, captioning the post, “Spent Saturday with my family and it makes me so happy 🤍” Sainz would’ve sure loved that, don’t you think?
