The early 2000s was possibly one of the most exciting eras in the history of Formula 1. The racing world witnessed as Michael Schumacher raced his way to 7 world titles. It was a time that elevated Ferrari to the level of popularity it enjoys right now. However, with Lewis Hamilton set to join Ferrari in 2025, the team is poised to rewrite history. But how much is Ferrari willing to pay the 7-time world champion for his services? A recent report suggests that money was not even a factor for Lewis Hamilton to join the Scuderia, although he could be earning along the same lines as Charles Leclerc.
When Hamilton signed a contract extension with Mercedes in August last year, the deal was supposed to pay him $55 million per season, making his 2-year contract worth $110 million, second only to Max Verstappen‘s whopping $70 million salary. However, Lewis must have had an exit clause for the second year of the deal that allowed him to look for other options in pursuit of his 8th world championship.

Along with the chance of wearing the iconic red suit, Hamilton is reportedly also getting a boost in his salary. However, at this point in his career, money isn’t even a factor for the British driver. What he wants right now is the chance to fight for his record-breaking 8th world title. And the chance to do that with the team that helped Schumacher reach his 7 titles would be priceless.
While specific details about the contract are not yet known, Stefano Mancini from La Stampa hints at a “multi-year agreement” worth around €50 million per season. “The data on the salary are secret, but there is talk of a “multi-year agreement” (same term used for Leclerc’s renewal) of around fifty million per season,” Mancini wrote according to Formula Passion.

However, the real compensation could turn out to be much more than the supposed 50 million euros after factoring in performance bonuses and sponsorship money. With Leclerc’s contract steadily increasing his salary to eventually reach 50 million euros by the end of his multi-year agreement, Ferrari is supposedly spending more than any other team in the pursuit of racing talent.
Although the Italian manufacturer is spending a lot of money to secure the services of Lewis Hamilton, the British driver has already repaid the team with a huge movement in the company’s stocks after the move was made public.
Ferrari gets a boost in its evaluation by a whopping $10 billion
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, being dubbed the ‘deal of the century,’ has had a significant impact on Ferrari.
