Michael Schumacher is perhaps the greatest driver of all time. The German won the World championships 7 times in his career with Benetton and Ferrari. Furthermore, he is also one of the people who laid the foundation of Mercedes’ dominance in the past decade. There’s seldom any doubt that he’d have made a great team principal as well. However, in an old interview, Michael himself denied taking over that role.

Michael Schumacher is more than a race driver, he’s a legend. He turned his opportunity into greatness and never looked back since. He won 2 titles with Benetton Racing before going on to win an unprecedented 5 titles with Ferrari. Michael decimated the contest and swoon everyone with his fantastic driving and overtaking ability.
However, when Michael announced his retirement from the sport in 2012, many tipped him to become a team principal in the future. But Michael said he wasn’t interested. When asked if he would try his hands as a team principal, Michael told Der Tagesspiegel newspaper, “No, certainly not. That’s not an option for me. I will probably do some go-kart racing again for fun, but that’s it.”
Corinna Schumacher won the European Championship in western-style horse riding. The German legend shared that he would most likely join his wife in some horse-riding competitions. Michael said, “My wife has already picked a horse for me.”

Former FIA president pays a poignant tribute to Michael Schumacher
Jean Todt, the former team manager of Michael Schumacher paid a fitting tribute to the 7-time World champion. Michael Schumacher’s home state in Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia, facilitated the Ferrari drivers with an award. The President of North Rhine-Westphalia also spoke at the event praising the German great.

Jean Todt said he was proud to call the 7-time champion his friend and share a close relationship with his family. He added, “Thanks to his victories and successes, he went from modest conditions to become a true citizen of the world, who worked closely with people from many different cultures.”
Jean further added, “But he never forgot where his roots were, some 30 kilometres from here, and always remained anchored. We miss him here, and not just on days like today.”
