Will Lewis Hamilton re-sign with Mercedes or will he jump ship to drive for Ferrari for the very first time in his F1 career? That’s a question he’s already answered yesterday at Monza. Despite rumors of him that were floating around of the 7x champ considering a move to the Maranello outfit, he decided to stick with the team he knows best. Consequently, a former British racer has embarrassed Ferrari for being not good enough to even be considered by Hamilton.
Before the summer break, Hamilton had been approached personally by John Elkann, the CEO of the parent company of Ferrari. He brought with him a plea for the Briton to occupy a Ferrari seat for post-2023. But Hamilton flat-out denied the request with a “no thanks”. Now, as he continues his stay with the Silver Arrows for 2 more years and a whopping $127 million, Ferrari has been left hanging out to dry. For this, Martin Brundle has commended him.

Ahead of the Italian GP, Brundle said, “I’m sure he (Hamilton) would have had a scout around to see what was out there. But I don’t see any reason why he would jump from Mercedes over to Ferrari, for example, given the experience and history he has with Mercedes Benz.”

This deal is what the entire LH army was waiting for. The man has finally delivered. But this is just the beginning of a new journey. The main job awaits him on the other side, on the racetrack. Lewis has already set his high expectations straight for Mercedes to work towards.
“We’re trying to win more world championships,” he said. “The unfinished business is getting us back to the top, it’s getting back and fighting back for world championships. We’ve been the most successful team in history, the most successful run in the past 10 years, but it’s been a challenge this past year, so just getting us back to where we belong, and operating on all those cylinders, which we’re seeing Red Bull doing.”
