Alfa Romeo test driver Callum Illot has been vying for the seat at the team for next season. The current drivers, Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Raikkonen, run out of contract at the end of the season. And it is believed that the team could replace either one or both drivers for the next season.

Could Callum Ilott join Alfa Romeo for the 2022 season?
Illot finished second in the F2 championship behind Mick Schumacher in the 2020s season but failed to secure a seat. The Ferrari Academy driver joined the Swiss team as their test and third driver for the 2021 season.
Illot wrote in his post,” After a fairly disappointing GP, don’t fear, I have some news coming soon 🧐”

The announcement may be regarding his potential move to Alfa Romeo F1 for the 2022 season.

Illot had earlier mentioned that he was confident that he will race in F1 for the 2022 season. “I still think I’m in a very, very good position. Yes, I have to wait a year. I’ve seen people wait for two. The focus is still on doing the best job as possible on the GT side, and the FP1 side, and then hopefully an opportunity may present itself,” said Ilott.

It would be interesting to see whose Alfa Romeo seat he takes, if at all.
