It seems like drama can never stop circulating at Ferrari as just four weeks after ridiculing Fernando Alonso, Frederic Vasseur seems to have surrendered to his supremacy at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Silverstone-based team has been a thorn in the side of teams like Ferrari and Vasseur As the Aston Martins of Alonso and Lance Stroll surprised everyone by finishing in the top five, the Ferrari team principal has once showcased his contradictory thoughts.

Nobody expected Aston Martin to be in the top 10, let alone the top 5. Just a few days ago, rumors were flying around that Alonso was already looking to depart. And just a few days later, he finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton, in 4th place. In getting this result, he has not only shut down the rumors in style but also made Vasseur regret his word of choice, from the Qatar Grand Prix.

F1’s favorite villain, Fernando Alonso quite literally embarrassed the team principal of his former team, Ferrari, as Frederic Vasseur’s recent statement did not age well, in the slightest! With Carlos Sainz finishing 8th, Ferrari still making blunders with their team strategies, and Charles Leclerc seeming to have low expectations already, things couldn’t have gotten worse for Vasseur.

Following the qualifying session of the Brazilian Grand Prix, Frederic Vasseur got candid about the possible threat that the AMR19 present. According to Formula Passion, he stated, “We shouldn’t underestimate the Astons. They’ve already been doing well since this morning and now they’re up front. In qualifying they had the advantage of having found the wind later having gone out earlier, but I don’t want to underestimate them.”

You wouldn’t be wrong in assuming that Vasseur was certainly not happy to see Aston Martin back in the top 5, especially considering his previous remarks that simply did come to bite him back.

Back at the Qatar Grand Prix, Alonso made an error at lap 33 and rejoined the track, but not without potentially having Charles Leclerc to be cautious. Fred Vasseur wasn’t happy about this as he stated back then, “If it was in the opposite I think that Fernando would have been more than vocal on the radio, that his life was ‘really on the edge’ and so and so,”

Unfortunately for Vasseur, little did he know that just 4 weeks after this incident, he would have to surrender to Fernando Alonso’s surprise result. Imagine if Alonso ends up finishing ahead of Charles Leclerc, in the main race. Now wouldn’t that be something?

After a depressing few weeks, Fernando Alonso has bounced back amazingly. With the Aston Martin upgrades finally paying off, Alonso is back where he truly belongs, which is in the top 5. And surprisingly enough, he has the potential to cause a big upset, as he starts the Sunday race, ahead of the local hero and his former McLaren teammate, Lewis Hamilton. Imagine a last-lap battle between the two, now wouldn’t that be a proper racing finishing to an exciting Brazilian Grand Prix?

But to make Hamilton’s and Vasseur’s problems even worse, Alonso is not done yet. In typical Alonso fashion, the 42-year-old driver is hungry for more. He recently stated, “I hope we have a clean weekend starting with a good Sprint tomorrow. We have a very good position to start the race from on Sunday, so we are looking forward to that. Hopefully that is the last of the rain, and we will go again tomorrow in the Sprint.” Good luck Ferrari fans and Lewis Hamilton fans, you’re going to need it!
