“Race cars are neither beautiful nor ugly. They become beautiful when they win.”– Enzo Ferrari. Remember how Sebastian Vettel gave Tifosi the hope of a Ferrari driver winning the title and would accept nothing less than a win and perfection? Well, Vettel didn’t get those at many occasions and wasn’t too happy about it. Nonetheless, Carlos Sainz faced backlash for his loser mentality as fans slammed him. But what did Sainz say?

Carlos Sainz has been living somewhat in Charles Leclerc’s shadow in the recent past. Except for his first season at Ferrari in 2021, Sainz hasn’t beaten Leclerc and it looks likely that the Spaniard will trail his Monegasque teammate this season as well. However, Ferrari themselves aren’t doing that great of a job at providing a competitive car. Amid all this along with the Audi move rumors, Sainz’s recent statement has caused an uproar.

Ferrari who were competing for the title last year with Leclerc are now having to fight for P2 in the standings with Aston Martin and Mercedes with McLaren also coming into the picture.

According to @Formularacer_’s tweet, as quoted by Motorsports.com, Carlos Sainz said “We just need to accept that’s the fight we are in. If one weekend we fight for P5 and that’s the maximum – we need to celebrate we’ve done the maximum with what we have.”
