Drivers in F4 division don’t get recognition quite often unless they celebrate their race wins like Fernando Alonso. Or have him backing them.

Nikola Tsolov is a karting sensation who recently stepped into the Spanish F4 division. The 15-year-old Bulgarian caught everyone’s eye when Fernando Alonso was seen giving him a tour in his Alpine F1 garage. He was also seen sharing a simulator with the two-time world champion.

With 10 wins out of 15 races in the ongoing Spanish F4 season, Nikola Tsolov is leading the pack. And every time he wins a race or secures the pole position, he makes sure the celebrations match Alonso‘s.

Going by the videos doing rounds on social media, he seems to have copied the “bird dance” pretty well. We don’t even know what to call the other celebration, but he seems to have mastered that too. The fans can’t keep calm and reactions like “like father like son” are a common sight in the comments.

With Alonso, the man with a Samurai tattoo, recognizing Tsolov’s talent from his karting days, the influence was inevitable. Fernando Alonso started a talent management company called A14 Management. Tsolov is one of the four young drivers that they have taken under their tutelage.

Tsolov gets Fernando Alonso’s backing

Fernando Alonso constantly keeps in touch with the young drivers. And the Bulgarian caught Alonso’s eye at a young age.

In an interview, Tsolov talked about how much influence Alonso holds in his life. He said, “I had the opportunity to learn a lot of stuff from him, and I was really happy about that. The way he just does the stuff not only on track but outside of the track really shows why he’s such a legend”.

He talked about how Alonso came to watch him during the pre-season testing. He also talked about how Alonso helped him with “new stuff”, from tire management to approaching standing starts.

With F1 earning a reputation for being open only to the wealthy, Fernando’s efforts are a welcome change. Identifying young talent right from their karting days to help them realize their true potential is very important. We can say that Tsolov is in right hands and has a bright future ahead of him.
