With the insane crowd turnout in Austin along with the enthusiasm around next year’s Miami Grand Prix, it’s clear that USA has embraced Formula 1. But the love isn’t one sided; F1 drivers have also welcomed America with open arms. So much so, that two-time world champion Fernando Alonso is in favor of a third US Grand Prix on the calendar.
“I guess so, I don’t see a problem with that,” Alonso told Autosport.
“The US is probably the biggest target for F1 right now with Liberty in charge of the sport.”

Formula 1’s American Owners, Liberty Media, are considering adding a third race in America to the season calendar.
The race will either be held in Indianapolis or Las Vegas.
But first, the first Miami Grand Prix
Along with his excitement, the Alpine driver also expressed that before thinking about a third race, they should focus on making the second one good.
“But let’s make a good grand prix in Miami next year first,” the 40-year-old said.
Along with Alonso, other drivers like Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have also expressed their thoughts on next season’s race in the United States.

It’s not just the drivers though, team principals have also welcomed the prospect of more races in America.
Alonso’s Alpine Team Principal, Laurent Rossi said the growth of Formula in US is a “perfect storm.” Aston Martin‘s Team Principal, Otmar Szafnauer feels the idea of more races in America is “very viable.”

Fernando Alonso has clearly passed his prime, but the Spanish driver has still shown glimpses of his talent this season.

He played a key role in teammate Esteban Ocon’s win but one wonders if the 40-year-old would still be racing in a Formula 1 car by the time a third United States Grand Prix becomes a reality.
Alpine currently sit fifth in the constructor’s table, only 10 points ahead of AlphaTauri.

Alonso would hope to finish the season with a string of consistent and good results in order for his team to hold on to fifth place in what has been a good season for them.
