As promised, the 2023 season is all set to give the fans one of the ‘Mega seasons.’ As even before the season opener at the Sakhir circuit, Fernando Alonso who earlier in the daytime session split the Red Bull pair Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, finally rolled down the years in the second Practice session with his brilliance behind the Aston Martin’s AMR23. The Spaniard’s skillful driving and blistering pace have prompted the fans to wonder if it is still 2006.
The 41-year-old set the fastest time out of 25 laps in his maiden racing weekend with the new team Aston Martin. His best time was 1:30.907 in the FP2. It only served to back up the notion that Aston Martin made a significant advancement over the course of the winter after a solid winter test. Both the Red Bull driver failed to catch the Spaniard as he was a tenth and a half quicker than the favorites of the upcoming season. Besides the duo, 0.002 separated Verstappen and Sergio.

ESPN has uploaded a post on their Twitter handle where they have shared a picture of Alonso, writing, “Fastest in FP2, Fernando Alonso” The F1 fans who were already watching the practice session on television were ecstatic with Fernando Alonso’s performance, and soon the comment area was full of them.
Twitter F1 fans go bonkers over Fernando Alonso’s “Magic” show
If Fernando Alonso intends to win the season opener, he must battle with the Red Bull pair as Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will be the drivers to beat in Sunday’s race. However, Verstappen, who said he was not as comfortable with the car as he had been during winter testing last week, struggled with front-end grip in the first session but still finished third before moving up a spot in the second. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez finished third in the second session after setting the fastest time in the first session earlier in the day with a best lap of 1:32.758. Only 0.438s separated Alonso from the Mexican in the afternoon practice session.
These figures demonstrate that all the work the Aston Martin crew has put in during the winter will pay off handsomely for the Silverstone-based organization in the upcoming campaign. Yet, as of right now, the news appears to have delighted Fernando Alonso’s fans who have long waited to watch their favorite driver compete for the podium.
Some of them have decided to express their happiness through various responses. Given below are some of the reactions.
