Mercedes is planning to supply Aston Martin with their best power units if Hamilton does not perform in the next two races. This situation has come to the fold after Alonso’s incredible result in Bahrain. Seeing his performance, Alonso has placed himself as a genuine title challenger and Mercedes will do everything in that power to take the title away from Red Bull.

The reports also suggest Hamilton is currently running the most powerful engine Mercedes has to offer. If this situation of backing Alonso comes to fruition, Mercedes will shift its focus to Alonso.
